The Foresight Activity

The Foresight activity aims to identify realistic scenarios based on likely technological and socio-economical developments, which could have a major impact on the manufacturing industries. This activity uses intensively the input of the socio-economic and technology trend reports, and is run by ad-hoc working groups. External experts are welcome to join these MANTYS ad-hoc groups.

Several groups completed their activity in 2004:

• The Agile Enterprise

• The Next Generation Machine Tools
• A Review of the Current Trends and Future Developments in the Mould and Die Manufacturing Sector
• A Review of New Production Processes
• Future Scenarios for the Machine Tool Industry
• Expansion towards Eastern Europe

In 2005, new Working Groups was established on the following topics:

• Innovative Training, Skill Development and Promotion
• Machine Tools 2011
